Soda or Pop?

Do you call a Fizzy drink Soda or Pop?  I grew up calling it pop, but here in cali it's soda.  I think it's all about where you are from.  Today we went to Galco's Soda Pop Shop.  They have shelves of unique soda and old school candy.  We now have a living room full of root beer.  As I write I am sucking on an old school Zotz candy....remember those?  I just had it drawn to my attention that we have a pair of "his and hers" A&W soda.....awesome.  Hope you all are having as good of a weekend as we are.

My baby in a tub.....I took Elle out in front of our Apartment today and put her in her toy bucket.  She didn't like it, but you can't tell from the photos.

Berry Pickin'

Saturday we went to Snow line Apple Orchards.  It is located out by Palm Springs.  Who would have thought this little mountain orchard would be near the desert.  We went to pick some Raspberries.  We ended up buying apple cider, root beer, apple butter, apple doughnuts and apple pie (the best pie I have ever had.)  MMMMMM.... everything was so good!  They make their apple doughnuts right in front of you, and they had a line of people waiting for them.  I thought I'd just post some pictures from our little outing.

Elle ate the berries as fast as I could pick them.  She likes raspberries.

Bad picture, but cute little belly......did I mention that she likes raspberries?

I look a little mad in this photo, but the little store was fun that we bought all our goodies.

She is mine....get your own.  P.S. she has berries on her bosom.

Did I mention she was mine?

Happy Labor Day!

We are just talking some time to relax after a few hectic weeks.  I feel we have a few more hectic weeks ahead of us.  I just thought I'd post this little graphic.  I may put this up on my Etsy site Orange Girl Press.  I have been a bad shop keeper.  Anyways, wishing you all a happy Labor day.  Or a happy welcome in Autumn (my favorite season).

{Photo Friday} Telling Small Stories

I love playing with Elle, she sees everything so differently than I do.  I remember when I fit so perfectly under a table and chairs.  It was a castle to me.  I remember playing in our yard growing up thinking everything was gigantic.  Playing with Elle reminds me of that time when I was small too.  Lately our world is very tiny.  Every Evening Elle and I go for a walk.  We pick up every tiny thing on the ground.  We look at everything small.  Yes we even suck on everything small.  I decided to pull out the Macro lens today and record what small things we see every day.

Macro lenses are lenses that focus up close to an object.  They are great for taking pictures of bugs, flowers, and yes even Cheerios.  This lens is actually a less expensive lens.  The only non Nikon lens I have.  It is an awesome lens.  It can take a little patience and it helps to hold your breath, because the spot you want to focus on is so small and breathing can offset where you are aiming.  I have problems with getting Error signals when I attach this lens.  You just have to play with the manual focus to get it to line up with the camera mechanism correctly.  Nikon lenses don't do this.

You can tell small stories with a normal lens too, this one just magnifies the object.  I just love documenting life in different ways.  Especially if it helps me see the world from someone else's point of view.

Cheerios are big at our house right now, she has learned to lick her finger and stick the O to it.

Constantly washing these

Elle likes these shoes and I do too...but I don't suck them

Two flowers Elle hasn't picked

Too many clovers to pick them all

We have had awesome weather.  Cool and misty in August....I love it!

Elle picks these leaves and hands them all to me.

Photo Friday started because I get a lot of questions from people who want to take better pictures of their families. Let's face it, we can't all be the kennedys with a professional photographer documenting our daily lives. This segment is to dumb down what I have learned from proffesional photographers, and give easy tutorials for making your photos great!
